Come The Apocalypse Allies Part 4: The Fourth Part

Good news! Voice of the Chaos Gods has predicted that GW is working on splitting up the legions for the next CSM dex!

This, of course, is the same Voice of the Chaos Gods, who has so far predicted Bretonnians in July, Blood Angels AND Chaos Space Marines supplement in late August, among other howlers.

He also, one week before the Stormfang pics leaked, told us Space Wolves would be getting the following releases:

-Wolf Lord in Terminator Armor / Lorgan Grimnar
-Wolf Lord / Ragnar Blackmane
-Wolf Priest / Ulrik
-Iron Priest with Thralls Box
-Rune Warriors with Rune Priest / Wolf Guard Box

Oooohh, snap! 0 for 5! Better luck next time, Brah. A person in a position to evaluate whether this guy actually has a reliable source, or was just making stuff up might be given pause... Anyway, I'm giving this rumor about the CSM dex the 100% Joe Namath guarantee.

This will be the lastest installment of this series. I hope you have enjoyed it because I dunno what Ima talk about next! (Okay, I do, but after that one, I really don't know!)

Adepta Sororitas

Two meltaguns and a multi-melta Immolator in one squad of five? 155 points with a combi-melta and meltabombs? Preferred enemy if they pass the act of faith? Aight.

The Exorcist is about as good a tank with AV13 to sit back and blast stuff as you will find, so running it alongside three Grinders is decent.

You could make a pretty cool SOB allied force that would make sense alongside Daemons. I seem to recall some of them falling to Slaanesh in the fluff, which is probably what I'd do with it.

What I'd probably take:

Canoness, combi-melta, meltabombs
5 Battle Sisters, 2 meltaguns, meltabombs, Immolator, multi-melta
5 Battle Sisters, 2 meltaguns, Immolator, multi-melta
Exorcist, storm bolter

515

Anti-tank solved! Unless the other guy goes first and craps hard on your Immolators. Then yer fooked. Ah well!

Inquistion

Nah!

Blood Angels

Know what these guys have that's pretty good? Assault Marine troops with meltaguns that scatter D6" and get to reroll reserves. So if you take ten, you can combat squad the half with two meltaguns and bring them in, and try to keep the other half out until turn 4. Ian does this all the time, and it is annoying because it plays unlike every other army in the game.

The Death Company Dreadnought is an objective secured version of the Space Marine Dred, but you have to take at least five Death Company to get it. The Furioso is more expensive, but also better than a regular Dred with WS6 and two S6 flamers.

Their Storm Raven has AP1 missiles, which is nice while it lasts.

The problem is their HQ's, which are all way overpriced and generally lousy.

Anyway, Space Wolves are straight better for our purposes at this time.

Dark Angels

Sometimes shops will have team tournaments where they'll let any two armies team up as either battle brothers or allies of convenience. When that happens, I always want to run Tzeentch Spawn next to a power field generator. Then I remember I don't have anything that looks like a Tzeentch Spawn, and I don't do it. If you tried that in a regular game, you'd run afoul of One Eye Open, which I'd prefer to avoid.

Because Ravenwing can only be troops in a DA primary force, I don't like them as allies for anyone. You'd always prefer Space Marines for obvious reasons unless a power field generator is something you think might really make your army go. In our case as Chaos players, it might, but it might also make it not go. Perhaps Fateweaver + Grimoire for 2++ saves (and a 4++ bubble) and a reroll for One Eye Open might be good to get you across the board. Bring a Librarian on a bike and a Ravenwing escort with melta and you might have something. Probably not worth it though.

Space Wolves

Ah, the new hotness. Grav Centurions coming to a fast attack drop pod coming to a spot near you! While Space Marines gets you the Chapter Master on his bike and a Thunderfire, Space Wolves gets you the Wolf Lord with Thunderwolf Cavalry. Unlike Bloodcrushers, the price is right for the unit. It's hard to go wrong when every model in a unit can take items from the melee weapons list or melta bombs. Unless you go overboard on that sort of thing and buy too much crap so that you're paying 80 points per model. Then you will have gone wrong, stupid. A couple power fists in that unit is plenty.

If I take ten Grey Hunters, I can get two meltaguns and a combi-melta in that squad and drop them in. Add Wolf Lord leading Wolves and you've got yourself a mean assault unit to run alongside the rest of your army. Certainly, the Thunderwolves are the nastiest assault unit any Space Marine faction can field.

And that is probably what I'd do. There's no Battlescribe roster for the new Space Wolves yet, and I'm too lazy to make up a list, but assume around 800 points and we're probably in the ballpark. Would a Daemons/Space Wolves combo do well in a competitive setting? Joe Namath says yes, and also, "I want to kiss you."
